Performance with the Rubbing Stone Ensemble
I spent the first week-end in November rehearsing and performing with the Rubbing Stone Ensemble in Calgary. They did a great job preparing a piece entitled Ribbons of Visible Air that I originally wrote for the Standing Wave Ensemble in 1997. The piece is scored for soprano sax, violin, cello, piano and percussion, with live processing and mixing of the acoustic instruments. We performed an updated version of the piece; while the first version required a couple of hardware sound processors, the new version was easily implemented in Ableton Live, and I was even able to add some more complex processing in a couple of places. I look forward to working with this group again soon. Below is a clip from the performance, the first four minutes or so of the twenty-minute piece.
